Cantor Fitzgerald and Cameron Thomson Group join forces to promote Virtual Specialist

Firms Launch Predictive Stock Market Engine

Toronto and London, May 13, 2005 - Cantor Fitzgerald has announced the launch of its Virtual Specialist® exchange technology, a stock-market engine that allows large numbers of traders to buy and sell virtual securities online or via SMS messaging - creating both an exciting game and a valuable research tool. Virtual Specialist will allow a broad range of media groups, telecoms companies or sports federations for example, to develop games under their own brands that enhance the customer experience whilst simultaneously providing a valuable research tool. Cantor Fitzgerald, which is leveraging its substantial experience in financial electronic exchanges, has also announced that it has retained Cameron Thomson Group (CTG) to be its international sales partner for the launch of its exchange technology, effective immediately.

Virtual Specialist takes advantage of the large and growing trend for companies to enhance their users’ experience by providing entertaining virtual exchanges that motivate users to buy and sell units in, for example, sports players, celebrities, politicians, or films. Virtual Specialist will be the first white label software offering that allows companies to easily and cost effectively build customized solutions.

Cantor Fitzgerald and CTG will introduce Virtual Specialist to a variety of business sectors and vertical markets - where it can provide an interactive wagering-like application to help monetize audiences and build loyalty. Virtual Specialist can also be used to facilitate and produce advanced market research for companies wishing to probe consumer behaviour with greater precision than that which can be achieved through conventional research tools.

Virtual Specialist has a demonstrable track record in both engaging game play and providing valuable research. For example, The Hollywood Stock Exchange (HSX) which originally developed and employed this technology, was able to achieve a 100% success rate in predicting the winners of the 2005 Oscars, beating all other polls and pundits. Even more recently its traders came to within 1% of correctly predicting the opening weekend box-office take of ‘Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith’. Entertainment groups and film studios use this technology to accurately predict the popularity and likely box office takings of individual films and stars.

Potential applications for Virtual Specialist include exchanges based on sports leagues such as The Premiership, soap operas, reality TV, the music industry and politics.

"Virtual Specialist is a powerful media tool that can enhance all sorts of events and programming," said Lee Amaitis, President and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald. "The predictive market is truly a 'killer application' that can be easily applied to numerous niches to create engaging applications that allow consumers to participate in a unique way with their favourite sports, entertainment or gaming activities."

Toronto-based CTG, a leading provider of outsourced business development solutions for the media and entertainment sectors, will initially take responsibility for markets outside of the United States. Cantor Fitzgerald - a premier global financial services provider, and its subsidiary eSpeed, are world leaders in developing and deploying electronic marketplaces and related trading technologies, which enable the world's most liquid, efficient and neutral financial markets.

"CTG's unprecedented skill in opening markets for new media initiatives worldwide will give the Virtual Specialist the edge in the global media and entertainment marketplace," added Amaitis. "We look forward to the Virtual Specialist creating consumer excitement all around the world."

Virtual Specialist, the world's most advanced 'white-label' virtual exchange, is a product of Cantor Fitzgerald, developed by Hollywood Stock Exchange, powered by eSpeed. The Hollywood Stock Exchange (HSX), acquired by Cantors in 2001, has been based on Virtual Specialist technology since it was founded in 1996.
