For Immediate Release Como Forum Update - Success in 2007 and Looking to 2010 Lake Como, Italy - November 30, 2007 - A month has passed since industry leaders from around the world gathered here by the shore of beautiful Lake Como to discuss the Future of Media Content. Some of the most influential stakeholders from different sectors of the Content Industry convened in privacy at the former Villa of the famed Italian motion picture director, Luchino Visconti, to share their insights and differing perspectives on what advances are taking place in the Media Industry; and how their respective businesses are changing to accommodate them. Cameron Thomson Group and RAI Media were proud sponsors of the first-ever such meeting of a wide cross-section of international decision-makers from all aspects on the content industry. Invited industry leaders, including producers of motion pictures, music, and internet content, studio heads, international broadcasters, content aggregators and distributors, multinational advertising agencies and their clients, spent two days sharing their war stories, successes and opinions about what the drivers of their business would be in the coming year or two, how they planned to reach their respective audiences and what disruptive influences they foresaw on the horizon. In a roundtable setting, people representing different aspects of the industry debated what they heard from industry analysts, and company chairmen, and presidents. Topics included : Restructuring the Entertainment Industry, Implications for the Advertising Sector, the impact of User-Generated and Online Content and how it was being Monetized, as well as the difficulties associated with presenting content on Multiple Distribution Platforms and incorporating Social Networks into their strategies. Participants enjoyed the lively and frank discussion and received insight into how their experiences impacted others in the content life-cycle in a convivial setting, taking breaks to meet privately to discuss pertinent business opportunities with their colleagues and peers. In the evening they were entertained by local artists and dined on the finest cuisine of the region. Activities included a boat cruise past many famous villas whose scenic beauty has drawn many major motion pictures to be filmed (including Star Wars, Ocean’s 12, and most recently, Casino Royale) and where many media luminaries also have seasonal residences. The program concluded with a summary of the findings of the discussions. The key participants decided that it was necessary to form a think tank to discuss key industry issues and to finding solutions to common problems, as well as identifying new opportunities in film, television, and original content for new platforms whether ad-supported on not. Broadening the focus from North America and Western Europe will be an aspect of the Como Forum that the Think Tank will discuss. The next event’s program in 2010 will likely include a greater focus on the evolution of Hollywood and independent national cinema, the critical mass of digital cinema technologies that is emerging and the effect of HD and the emerging Asian market. Please check the Como Forum website for more details as next year’s program evolves. # # # About The Como Forum on Media ContentThe Como Forum on Media Content tackles the most critical issues facing media content owners.
