Cameron Thomson Entertainment Inks Television
Co-Production Deal with SCALA Group S.p.A.

January 9, 2002, Toronto - Cameron Thomson Entertainment, a division of business development powerhouse Cameron Thomson Group Ltd., has inked a multi-year television co-production deal with Italy's leading multimedia design and publishing company and the owner of Europe's most extensive library of art images, SCALA Group S.p.A. SCALA's library gives Cameron Thomson Entertainment access to over 130,000 proprietary colour images as well as its multimedia resources of digital video, film strips, animation, 3D reconstruction, multilingual texts, audio and original music spanning all fields of culture (over 400,000 items).

"We are very excited by the prospect of taking the SCALA Group's vast archive of art and culture images and creating dynamic and original television programming," says Ron Thomson, President of Cameron Thomson Entertainment. "SCALA's resources are incredible. Consider that we'll be drawing from the highest quality reproductions of images that range from the Renaissance period through Impressionism to Modernism and directly from the international source."

Cameron Thomson Entertainment is in development on a package of programming to be unveiled at NATPE 2002 - several series which can be tailored to the specific requirements of domestic and international broadcasters and networks. Topics that will initially be covered include Art and Eroticism, Women in Art History, Art and Ancient Civilizations, Lost and Stolen Art Treasures as well as a selection of unique offerings such as Sports in Art, Great Battles and Voyages, and Art Nostalgia. One of the highlights of the package will be an art history program geared towards children and youth.

"We want to focus on making art accessible for all ages. We plan on transcending the norm when it comes to art and culture programming," says Steven Jarosz, Executive Producer for Cameron Thomson Entertainment on the SCALA series and a former executive producer of numerous successful breakthrough shows. "It's time for a series where art and art history is entertaining, thought-provoking, inspiring and most of all, fun. We want to open up non-traditional markets and bring a highly memorable art experience to a much wider audience. It's definitely going to be a different and innovative approach to TV art entertainment - exquisite visuals, intriguing stories, rich in global culture and heritage. We believe that Scala's exceptional art resources will appeal to just about everyone's artistic tastes - young and old."

Cameron Thomson Entertainment has brought together a diverse group of industry veterans to package and produce the SCALA series. Executive Producer Steven Jarosz has an extensive background in business development, financing and project management having been VP at Paragon Entertainment and Corporate Controller of Nelvana Ltd. Among his past Executive Producer credits are The Tom Green Show, Table for Two, the animated series Untalkative Bunny, and Mr. Futz (presently in development at Teletoon).

Producers Pam Marr and Kia Chester have worked extensively in the music industry creating videos for several artists that were nominated for Juno Awards as well as in commercial production for clients such as Ford of Canada, Ford Motor Company, Nestle and Hallmark. Their television credits include several documentaries such as Child Abuse for Canada LawBooks, Women Entrepreneurs for Global TV and The Making of Babar for Canal Plus as well as two seasons of the magazine program A Time of Your Life which aired on WTN, Vision and Life. Producer Jes Gallotti is a renowned Canadian artist whose work includes "Cultural Connections", a collection of masks cast in bronze, that represent a broad spectrum of distinguished Canadian talent.

Emmy Award-winning editor Rik Morden has been in the film, television and commercial production industries for thirty years. He has worked with several advertising agencies on numerous commercials garnering him both Clio and Bessie Awards. His television credits include Devine Entertainment's The Artists' series and six HBO specials. He edited the Emmy Award winning Beethoven Lives Upstairs and was also nominated for an Emmy and a Gemini Award for Devine's Thomas Edison special for HBO.

"The team we've gathered is truly exceptional," says Mr. Thomson. "Similar to what was done with the Cameron Thomson Group, I wanted to ensure the success of the SCALA series and the entertainment company itself by bringing together these creative and driven industry experts. It's important to recognize and utilize the experience of these individuals who will be able to develop and support such an innovative package of programming."
