Cameron Thomson Entertainment Building Scala TV's Brand Through Artful Deal with MoMA

March 20, 2002, Toronto - Scala TV, the television co-production partnership between Cameron Thomson Entertainment and SCALA Group, is the big winner in a recent deal reached with The Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA).

The deal recognizes SCALA Group as the exclusive agent for the worldwide distribution and marketing of images reproducing works in the MoMA collection. It also makes available images from MoMA, the world's pre-eminent museum of modern art, for use in a unique new brand of television programming featuring SCALA Group content.

Cameron Thomson Entertainment is spearheading the new slate of series, six of which are currently in development, the first of which is scheduled for production this summer. In developing these series, Cameron Thomson Entertainment and Scala TV will have unlimited and unprecedented access to images of virtually every surviving important work of art from the Renaissance to present day - a stunning array of resources that have never been afforded a single production studio before.

The addition of the MoMA catalogue to the SCALA Group Archives, Europe's most extensive library of art images, is paramount to Cameron Thomson Entertainment's vision for the series. The agreements with SCALA Group and, now, MoMA, ensure that art and culture throughout the ages, including contemporary and modern works, will be the cornerstone upon which this bold new brand of convergent television entertainment is created.

"It's an exciting process; we're literally lifting whole worlds off of the page, breathing new life into images that, until now, have been static and two-dimensional," said Ron Thomson, President of Cameron Thomson Entertainment. "We're telling the stories behind the art and using the art to tell the stories. We're uncovering hidden treasures -- fresh, compelling and very human stories that have to be told."

Cameron Thomson Entertainment recently announced that the themes for its first six series under the Scala TV banner will include: Art and Eroticism, Gods and Monsters, and Lost & Stolen Art Treasures.
